PLOT
When a Galactic Patrol ship crashes on his family's property, the young Kimball Kinnison receives a mysterious Lens from the dying pilot as he prepares to leave home for a more extensive education. The Lens, which is now implanted in Kim's hand and is somewhat sentient, becomes the center of events in his life, including the passing of his father, a space battle, and a run-in with Chris, a nurse officer with the Galactic Patrol. He is propelled by the Lens and finds a new universe of experiences opening up in front of him. He puts his life in danger in order to save Chris and the Universe.
